
Our Staff
Our highly qualified staff are level II background screened, CPR trained, complete 45 hour DCF training, and a minimum of 24 In-service hours per year.

Chris Pappas
Director
Chris graduated from the University of Florida in 2003 with a Bachelors Degree in Education. She has been the Director at Sonshine since September 2014. Chris has an Advanced VPK endorsed Director Credential and is currently the Assistant Chair on the ACSI Commission and serves as an ACSI School Inspector. Chris is married to Todd of 20 years and has three children. When she is not working she loves to run, read and spend time with family and friends.

Camela Kuhl
Resource Assistant
Camala has been working at Sonshine Day since we first opened our doors in 1988 and has worked in the front office for over 20 years. Camala has worked in every classroom and is now essential to Sonshine Day's daily success. She is married to her best friend of 28 years and in her free time she enjoys reading and drawing.

Hollie Harrison
Afterschool/ Summer Camp Supervisor & Music/Spanish Teacher

Katie graduated from the University of Florida in 2011 with a Bachelors Degree in Animal Science and Equine Reproduction Genetics. She has been working at Sonshine for over a year and was recently promoted to Assistant Director. Katie is currently working on achieving her Director Credential. Katie is married to Garrett for seven years. They have one son named Austin, who also attends Sonshine Day. When she isn't working she enjoys fishing, hunting, and going on adventures with her family.

Cheryl Stanford
Financial Assistant
Hollie graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelors degree in Portuguese and a minor in Latin Studies in 2014. Hollie works as the Afterschool and Summer Camp Supervisor and has worked at Sonshine Day for last 2 years. She also teaches music and spanish in our Preschool classes. Hollie is married and has two children who both attend Sonshine Day. When Hollie isn't working she enjoys baking, cooking, and relaxing by the pool.
Barbara Black

Financial Assistant
Cheryl has worked at Sonshine Day since January 2016 and works as our part time Financial Office assistant. Cheryl has been a long time Florida resident and worked in her family business for many years as the financial director. Cheryl enjoys spending time with her large extended family as well as decorating, cooking, gardening, reading and traveling.
Barbara was born and raised in Miami Fl, and moved to Gainesville in 1994. She is our second financial assistant at Sonshine Day and she started working at Sonshine Day 15 years when her youngest started Kindergarten. Barbara works for Sonshine Day part time, completing bi-weekly payroll and the monthly and quarterly financials. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends and dogs.
