Our highly qualified staff are level II background screened, CPR trained, complete 45 hour DCF training, and a minimum of 24 In-service hours per year.

Chris graduated from the University of Florida in 2003 with a Bachelors Degree in Education. She has been the Director at Sonshine since September 2014. Chris has an Advanced VPK endorsed Director Credential and is currently the Assistant Chair on the ACSI Commission and serves as an ACSI School Inspector. Chris is married to Todd of seventeen years and has three children. When she is not working she loves to run, read and spend time with family and friends.
Peggy has a National CDA and a Florida Level II VPK endorsed Director Credential. She has been working at Sonshine Day for 25 years and the last 19 years as the Assistant Director. Peggy loves spending time with her family and her 8 grandchildren. When she isn't working she enjoys reading, crafts cooking and traveling as much as possible.
Camala has been working at Sonshine Day since we first opened our doors in 1988 and has worked in the front office for over 20 years. Camala has worked in every classroom and is now essential to Sonshine's daily success. She is married to her best friend of 26 years and in her free time she enjoys reading and drawing.
Cheryl is a long time Florida resident. She worked in her family business for several years working in the finance office. After a brief retirement, In January 2016 she joined the Sonshine Day team as an assistant in the Finance Office. Cheryl enjoys spending time with her large extended family as well as decorating, cooking, gardening, reading and traveling.
Administrative Support & Communications
Barbara was born and raised in Miami, Fl and moved to Gainesville in 1994. She is our second financial assistant at Sonshine Day and she started working here 15 years ago when her youngest started Kindergarten. Barbara works for Sonshine Day part time, completing the bi-weekly payroll and the monthly and quarterly financials. She enjoys spending time with family and friends and her dogs.
Julie received her bachelors degree from Florida State University in Merchandising and Textiles in 2010. She is skilled in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign and has been working in graphic design for the last 3 years. She is new to Sonshine Staff and has been working in our office since August this year. Julie is married to Rickie Miller and loves to play with her three dogs, paint, attend craft festivals and travel.
